Terms & Conditions

Ingredients

All of our cakes are made using the highest quality ingredients.  We use organic milk, butter, flour and cocoa powder. We use free range eggs and fair trade caster sugar.
We recommend that the cakes are eaten on the day of the celebration as that’s when the cake is the freshest.  Please consume the cake within 3 days.

Dietary specifications

Our cakes are made on premises in which nuts are used, every effort is taken to ensure ingredients are kept separate. However, this cannot be guaranteed and cakes may contain traces of nuts and/or nut oil. We cater for customers suffering from coeliac disease and can provide gluten free cakes. As the cakes need to be stable enough to support the weight of the sugar paste and sugar models, we cannot substitute butter for dairy free spread as it affects the quality of the cake on certain style of cakes. Please ask for more details.

Colour matching

We cannot guarantee 100% colour match but we will try our best to get the closest to the shade you are after. If you want to get an exact colour match it is best to give us a sample (sending us a picture in the post) so that we can do our best to get an exact match.

Wedding orders

A minimum of 3 month’s notice is required. However, we can accept short notice orders subject to availability. Any orders placed using a photo produced by another cake designer will not be copied but we will do our own interpretation of the cake. All designs need to be finalised before the deposit has been paid. Any changes in design after this will be subject to time left before the due date. If a new design is wanted or the amendments are extensive, new pricing will have to be discussed.

To book a tasting session please contact us to arrange a date. It is £35 for a half hour consultation slot in which you get to taste 3 cakes of your choice plus a hot or cold drink for the two of you.  This £35 is redeemable against the price of the cake when you book with us.

Please bring as much information with you regarding your cake and any themes you wish to include. Flower arrangements, wedding invitations, pictures of the outfits for the special day, your wedding theme or colours etc. are all helpful. We do have an inspiration book that has a range of cake designs so you can get an idea of what you would like.

Celebration orders

A minimum of 1 month’s notice is required. However, we can accept short notice orders, subject to availability.

Rush Orders

Rush orders are cakes ordered within one week of the date the items are to be delivered. Fees for rush orders may apply.

Inedible items

When making models we use cocktail sticks and wires for support. We will let you know in advance if we have used these items so that you can take them out before eating the models.  We accept no responsibility for any issues that may occur due to inedible items being left in the cake.

Cake toppers

If you require a topper, please let us know so that we can put supports on the cake underneath where the topper will go.  If you place a heavy topper on a cake without any supports, it will sink into the cake. We do not accept any responsibility for any damages caused when placing a topper without letting us know.

Payment

Payments are accepted via BACS or cash payments only.  We do not accept credit or debit card payments.  Receipts will always be provided for each payment.

Deposits

A 50% deposit is required for all cakes to ensure that we can save your chosen date.  We will provide you with a quote which will need to be settled within 3 days of the quotation.  When paying the deposit, you are required to contact us via telephone or email so that we can confirm the booking. Due to customers (understandably) looking around for prices we do not pursue orders, it is your responsibility to inform us you have paid a deposit.

Final Balance Payments

For wedding cakes and celebrations cakes, the final 50% needs to be paid a month before the wedding cake is due, even if the cake is being collected.

Cancellation

Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.  Full payment of the cake is required if the birthday cake is cancelled within 6 days of the celebration date or within 30 days for a wedding cake.  All cancellations need to be submitted in writing.  On receipt of the cancellation, you will be sent a confirmation response with information regarding any money due from you or any money owed to you.  If you owe us money, you must pay within 7 days of the date of the confirmation letter. Any unpaid balances will be pursued through the small claims court and customers will be responsible for costs and expenses incurred in this process.

Viewing

Cakes are finished the day before or on the day to ensure the cakes are as fresh as possible. We do not send progress photos.

Collections

Your cake can be collected between the hours of 7am to 8am or 6pm to 8:30pm on your chosen delivery day. 1 week before collection date, a 30 minute time slot will be agreed. Please note that a £10 fee applies if you are unable to make the agreed time slot without giving us 24 hours’ notice.  Please ensure you are available for the time that has been pre-arranged, or alternatively arrange a new slot that is suitable. If you are early, the cake may not be ready and you will be asked to wait until the pre-arranged time.

Transportation

When collecting the cake we recommend transporting it in the boot of a car or if it’s a small cake, on the floor in the footwell. Please ensure extra care is taken when driving, especially when taking sharp turns.  We do not accept any responsibility for damages caused if the cake is damaged in transit. We do not recommend transporting the cake on someone’s lap, placing cakes on unlevelled seats in a vehicle, leaving the cake inside a hot car for prolonged periods or placing the cake where items can fall onto it. If you require the cake to be fixed we will give you a quote and we will try our best to fix it. Models that are broken will most likely not be able to be repaired as they take a couple of days to dry.

Delivery

We use Addison Lee as our couriers. We will book the courier for you on receipt of full payment and will pass on the quote as given by them. There are no additional fees for this process. Delivery may not be available for the time required if is not agreed upon 5 days before the cake is due to be delivered, so please ensure deliveries are confirmed 5 days prior to the required delivery date.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you have given us the correct delivery information and someone is available to receive the cake. If no one is available we will attempt to deliver it to a neighbour or we will return the cake to Jazmin Cakes HQ. You will be asked to transfer payment to resend the cake before we order another courier service. We accept no responsibility for damages incurred if delivered and left with a neighbour.

Storage

Buttercream cakes can melt in warm temperatures so please store in the fridge until it is needed.

Sugar paste cakes can start to get air bubbles if left in a humid room. They need to be stored in a cool dry place away from sunlight. If water is splashed on the cake, the colours can melt the cake and also cause the colours to run. If the whole cake is not consumed at the event, please put cling film over the exposed cakes to keep it fresh. Please do not put in the fridge as the colour starts to run and it also starts to dry out.

Disputes

A full refund will not be given if any of the cake has been consumed. A partial refund will be given if the majority of the cake is intact but the cake must be returned. Any refund given is at the discretion of the owner of Jazmin Cakes.

All cakes that are delivered are photographed from all angles to show quality, we do not accept any responsibility for damages once the cake has been delivered. We are not responsible for levelling or stabilising tables that the cake will go on. If the table is not stable and collapses, we do not accept responsibility.

If the cake is being collected, we do not accept any responsibility for damages incurred while transporting the cake to the venue. This in no way affects your statutory rights.

Publication

We photograph all of our cakes and we reserve the right to use any image for publication at a later date. If we use a personal photo and you do not want us to publish the photos please contact us and let us know.

Return of Hired Equipment

Deposits for equipment are taken at 100% of the cost. If the equipment is damaged we will keep the deposit to replace it. Equipment must be returned 3 days after the event or a £10 per day charge will be incurred.

Changes

Please inform us of any changes or amendments to your details in writing as soon as they happen.

In the highly unlikely event that we cannot make your cake, we will let you know as soon as possible and provide you with details of another cake company that is able to fulfil your order without affecting the price or quality.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to Contact Us.
